ImmunoX Mentoring Program for Postdocs
Program goals
- Pair postdoctoral fellows with ImmunoX faculty (beyond that of their lab’s PI) for career mentoring.
- In scheduled 1:1 meetings, mentors will provide advice on research projects, letters of support for grant proposals, and guidance on job searches.
- To further connect with the community, mentors will help connect mentees with appropriate opportunities in ImmunoX, such as in various CoLabs, IgEquity, ImmunoDiverse, or ICI grants.
- Participation in this program is entirely optional but is strongly encouraged for all ImmunoX postdocs.
- Participation is required for postdoctoral recipients of the ImmunoX T32.
What to expect as a mentee
- Once registered as a member of the program, mentees will contact their assigned mentor.
- Goal is that mentees schedule at least one meeting a year with their mentor. More meetings are encouraged if deemed helpful and workable with both parties’ schedules.
- If arranged over lunch, expense will be reimbursed by the ImmunoX program (within the limits of UCSF lunch reimbursement policy).
- It is strongly encouraged that participating postdocs complete an IDP after their first meeting and update annually after that.
- Participation is required for postdoctoral recipients of the ImmunoX T32.
How to participate
- Complete this form
- If you know which faculty you would like as a mentor, you will receive instructions on how to commence communications with them.
- If you do not know which faculty you would like as a mentor, the program faculty director will make a decision on a good match and inform you. To facilitate this matching process, we will ask that you submit a short, one paragraph research summary and your most recent CV.
