ImmunoX Journal Clubs

Each week, a faculty member, a postdoctoral fellow, or a student (under the sponsorship of a faculty member of his/her choice) presents a discussion of one or a few related articles published in research journals in the ImmunoX Journal Club. The article(s) should deal with research in molecular or cellular immunology, but more general topics in molecular or cell biology, genetics and evolution, and neurobiology are also welcome. Topics too close to one's own research specialty are not encouraged. Beginning in their second year of graduate school, students in the immunology program make an annual presentation in the ImmunoX Journal Club. In addition to presenting published papers of interest, students also present their thesis research at least once during their training.

This journal club is very well-attended and, together with the graduate course in Immunology, forms the backbone of scientific exchange between faculty, students and postdoctoral fellows.

2025-2026 Journal Club Schedule

All meetings are from 9:00-10:00am at Parnassus Heights

Access to Spring 2020-Spring 2022 Zoom video archive available upon request (jonathon.wilson@ucsf.edu).

Parnassus Institute Trainee Minisymposium (PITRAMI)

The goal for this series is to promote interactions across programs and disciplines, bringing trainees and faculty together in the shared endeavor of refining our research. Planned quarterly, PITRAMI events involve 15-20 trainees giving 10 minute talks about the progress of their research. Speakers are postdocs, graduate students, and staff members, who come forward on a voluntary basis to present their research projects. In order to showcase a broad range of topics, PITRAMI includes the contributions of multiple different Parnassus research groups. PITRAMI’s conclude with a social hour to promote networking and collaboration across the Parnassus campus.

If interested in connecting with PITRAMI leadership (either to present or learn more about PITRAMI leadership opportunities, please contact Dr. Jeroen Roose (Jeroen.Roose@ucsf.edu).

UCSF ImmunoX/UCB Immunology Retreat

Each year, immunologists from UCSF and UC Berkeley co-sponsor a two-day conference. This conference allows scientists from both institutions to share their work and interact with each other in a social setting.

Location: Asilomar Hotel and Conference Grounds

2026 Dates: Friday, September 18 - Sunday, September 20, 2026
